Carl Pei today announced his new business, a brand named Nothing. The London-based company is described as “a new, forward-thinking consumer technology company,” but as of this announcement, it is not showing any products in its portfolio.

Nothing was started by Pei after his departure from OnePlus last year in October, where he was a co-founder of the company alongside current CEO Pete Lau. He later announced in December that his next venture had already received $ 7 million in funding from such prominent names as Tony Fadell (former CEO of Nest, inventor of the iPod), Kevin Lin (co-founder of Twitch), Steve Huffman (co-founder and CEO of Reddit), Josh Buckley (CEO of Product Hunt) and Casey Neistat (YouTuber).
It’s been a while since nothing interesting happened in technology. It’s time for a cool breeze of change. Nothing’s mission is to break down barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When it’s far enough along, it should disappear into the background and look like nothing.
Nothing will release its first smart devices in the first half of 2021.
