It will initially be tested on 100 urban and new territory taxis, with the aim of having 1,000 taxis equipped with the smart meter by the third quarter of this year.
Developed in collaboration by CabCab and APAS, and with support from EFT Solutions, the innovative “CabCab” smart taxi meter offers much more than just electronic receipt functionality in the future. It will simplify fare calculations for taxi drivers in scenarios involving toll tunnels, toll roads, toll zones or other additional service charges. Drivers can easily select relevant additional charges on the CabCab system, which then automatically calculates the total fare, reducing the risk of human error associated with manually adding these charges.
