Claude’s Life Sciences Ecosystem Combines AI Benchling with Claude’s Advanced Reasoning
SAN FRANCISCO, October 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Bench today announced a partnership with Anthropic, an AI research and security company and the creator of Claude, to advance AI in biotechnology through Claude for the life sciences ecosystem. The collaboration combines Benchling’s trusted database and AI Agents with Claude’s advanced reasoning skills. Scientists can now ask Claude questions about their Benchling data to get clear, source-linked answers, decision-ready summaries and reports in minutes. Claude’s Benchling AI agents take on the heavy lifting of finding structured data like test results and molecules and extracting the unstructured context buried in lab notebooks, so scientists can focus on analysis and decisions.
Building the AI ecosystem for biotechnology
The impact potential of AI in the life sciences is considerable. As Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said in his Essay on the Machines of Loving GraceAI could “shrink decades of biological progress into just a few years,” opening the door to much better disease prevention and treatment. Claude for life sciences uses Benchling as a system of record while Claude synthesizes information through data. The integration between Claude and Benchling is possible via Model Context Protocol (PCM), and allows users to easily switch between them, with one-click traceability back to the underlying scientific data. Existing permissions and audit logs are automatically transferred, so organizations can deploy AI in their R&D while maintaining control and compliance.
