BAZHOU, China, December 5, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — On November 22a drone of the State Grid Bazhou Power Supply Company, after completing its inspection of electrical equipment, landed smoothly at the nest located on top of Tower No. 30 of the 220 kV transmission tower of the Baling-I line in Bayingol .. This is the official operation of the first “tower-based” drone inspection of the Xinjiang Power Grid photovoltaic energy storage network.
The “tower-based” photovoltaic energy storage network inspection nest serves as a dedicated station for the inspection drone, providing one-stop, comprehensive and comprehensive services. Once its inspection tasks are completed, the drone autonomously returns to the nest to recharge and transmit data. This system significantly improves operational efficiency, achieving nearly ten times the efficiency of traditional manual inspections.
Conventional fixed drone nests are limited by power supply constraints, usually installed in power substations and connected to the grid. As a result, they cannot respond to inspection requests for all transmission lines. In contrast, the “tower-based” photovoltaic energy storage nest makes full use of Xinjiang’s abundant sunlight by employing a “photovoltaic + energy storage” system to power the nest. During sunny days, the photovoltaic system directly powers the nest, while excess energy is stored in the energy storage equipment. In the evening or during periods of insufficient sunlight, the energy storage system releases the stored energy, ensuring the continued operation of the nest, improving both its stability and reliability.
Operation and maintenance personnel can monitor the real-time performance of the photovoltaic system and the charging and discharging conditions of the nest batteries through an intelligent management platform, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the nest based on the round.
In the future, the State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company plans to use the first “tower-based” photovoltaic energy storage network inspection drone nest in Bayingol as a pilot project. This will accelerate construction and pave the way for the establishment of an intelligent inspection demonstration zone in southern Xinjiang.
