Barca got another winning to make it to the top 5 of the La Liga, joining back to the title race after such a while struggling in the second half of the table.
It was La Blaugrana who played better in the first half, scoring 2 goals during the first 45 minutes of the match before sealing the result at the 65th minute. Barca joined the top 5 of the La Liga with an impressive winning of 3-0.
Barcelona struggled a bit in the early minutes of the game but was able to manage their dominance most of the time. The Catalan giant possessed the ball 68% the time of the first half. They created 10 shots and 6 of them made it to the goal of Real Valladolid.
But it was not until Messi assisted a beautiful lobbed pass to Clement Lenglet that Barca got their opening goal. Lobbed pass from Messi was correct to inches, found the position of Lenglet perfectly and led the Frenchman to a goal.
Messi then also participated in the second goal of Martin Braithwaite, leading the set-piece step and helped his Danish teammate score the goal.
Barca ended the first half with a margin of two goals. Actually, they could have scored more if Valladolid’s goalkeeper Jordi Masip was not that good. Several good crosses from Jordi Alba and Sergiño Dest put Barca’s strikers in good spot for scoring a goal. Sadly, none of them found the back of the net in the end.
In the second half, Barcelona continued to be the dominant side. Valladolid made four substitution in just first 10 minutes of the second half. Unfortunately, it was not enough for them to overturn the result, even made them concede another goal. This time, it was Messi who scored the goal for Barcelona.
From a back-heel pass of Pedri, Messi got an one-on-one situation which was fairly good for him to score a goal and he did not waste that chance at all.
The Argentine striker scored a goal easily and it was also his 644th goal for Barcelona. Messi officially overcame Pele’s record of scoring the largest amount of goals for a club.
With this winning, Barca jumped to top 5 of the La Liga and nearly touched the top 4 with a slight margin. Next match, the Catalan giants will meet Eibar at the home ground Camp Nou. Another winning is expected from Barca in their upcoming match on Dec. 30th.
