Earlier this month, we reported on a new feature discovered in a beta of iOS 14.5 that apparently allowed users to set a default third-party music or podcasting app for Siri voice commands. It wasn’t clear how it worked and it didn’t always ask the user which app they wanted to open the audio with. There was also no menu that allowed you to manually select an app to do so.
To clarify the function and its purpose, Apple contacted TechCrunch to explain what this feature was and that its purpose was not to define a default audio app for Siri. Apple has confirmed that there is no specific setting in iOS where users can set a default music service like they can with messaging or browsing apps.
