The family of late Hong Kong actress Kathy Chow has announced the return of her ashes to her native country following her cremation in mainland China.

The actress’s family said they did this to “allow her to return to her roots”, according to a Chinese news site. Ifeng.
Chow died on December 11 following an illness, as confirmed by her management agency and her family.
Chinese news site St Title reported that the actress had been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus, a disease that had not been made public before her death. This autoimmune disease causes inflammation and tissue damage in various organs, affecting the joints, skin, brain and lungs.
St Title also reported that Chow left behind significant assets, including a villa in Beijing valued at more than 100 million yuan (about 14 million U.S. dollars). His mother is named as the beneficiary of these assets, with Chow’s siblings choosing not to claim any inheritance.
In addition to his estate, Chow’s family took responsibility for his beloved pet dogs and cats and brought them to Hong Kong.
Born in 1966, Chow rose to fame through her leading roles in drama series produced by TVB, a Hong Kong broadcasting company.
She rose to prominence for her portrayal of Zhou Zhiruo in the 1994 television adaptation of Jin Yong’s wuxia novel “The Heavenly Sword and the Dragon Saber”.
Additionally, on December 13, the director of an orphanage in Beijing revealed Chow’s long-standing philanthropic efforts. The actress had contributed financially, visited the orphanage and brought toys and warm clothes to the orphaned children, while supporting their education for many years.
