The interdepartmental working group on the use of hydrogen as a fuel, led by the Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB), has approved six projects hydrogen fuel technology trial project in Hong Kong involving the transport and energy sectors, with a view to local application of the technology and development of supporting facilities.
Hydrogen safety training courses directly respond to this shift towards renewable energy sources and will address the knowledge and skills gap prevalent in the industry. The hydrogen carrier design, application and safety training courses will encompass a broad curriculum including general hydrogen safety, risk assessment, design safety and operational safety. Participants will gain valuable insights into the nuances of working with hydrogen-based technologies and learn best practices to ensure safety at all levels of operation.
The hydrogen safety training courses have been duly approved under the Reindustrialization and Technology Training Program (RTTP). RTTP provides a 2:1 matching grant to local businesses to train their staff in advanced technologies. These courses will provide essential training and education to engineers, technicians and professionals who are ready to lead the hydrogen energy revolution in Hong Kong.
