Time magazine reports that attendees included members of royal families such as Malaysia’s King Abdullah and Queen Azizah, Bhutan’s King Jigme and Queen Jetsun Pema, Jordan’s Princess Noor Asem and her husband Amr Fareed Zaidan.
Political leaders including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. were also present.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressed his joy on social media by sharing photos and congratulating the couple.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I wish His Royal Highness Prince Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah much joy and success in their shared journey ahead!” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Harper’s Bazaar ArabiaPrincess Hanouf of Saudi Arabia, Prince Nasser of Bahrain, Princess Noor of Jordan and Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi of the Emirati royal family were also spotted at the event.
Prince Mateen, 32, son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, married Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah, 29, granddaughter of a royal advisor, in a 10-day celebration from January 7 to 16.
The royal couple participated in various ceremonies including the Quran Khatam event on January 8, the Berbedak Mandi or powdering ceremony on January 10 and the ceremony at the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque on January 11.
As reported CNNThe big event climaxed on January 14 with an official wedding, with Prince Mateen in military uniform and his bride in a bejeweled white dress with a diamond tiara walking down the aisle.
Prince Mateen, a helicopter pilot and major in the Royal Brunei Air Force, also represented Brunei in polo at the 2017 and 2019 SEA Games.
He was named one of Asia’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors by Hong Kong’s Tatler magazine in 2016.
His royal bride is an alumna of the University of Bath and an entrepreneur.
She founded the fashion brand Silk Collective and co-founded the cultural experience tourism company Authentirary.
His grandfather Pehin Dato Isa is the special advisor to the Sultan of Brunei and held important roles in the Brunei government in the 1960s and 1970s.
His brother Danial Deen Isa-Kalebic is a close friend of Prince Mateen and his sister-in-law Janetira Attaskulchai Deen is from the Attaskulchai family of Thailand, known for their Betagen yogurt empire.
