SHENZHEN, CHINA – Media OutReach – August 15, 2023 – OPPO today announced the shortlisted 15 tech start-ups for the 2023 OPPO Inspiration Challenge global final demo event following successful regional demo events in Boston, Shenzhen and Bangkok earlier this month. The 15 start-ups and their innovations will meet in Singapore in October where they will compete for a place in the world’s top 5.
OPPO Inspiration Challenge Top 15 Global Proposals
The OPPO Inspiration 2023 Challenge received a total of 687 innovative submissions from 66 different countries and regions, focusing on the two entry categories “Inspiration for People” and “Inspiration for the Planet”. After an extensive evaluation process, the top 15 solutions from each region were selected to participate in three regional demo events in Boston, Shenzhen, and Bangkok.
Industry Experts Inspire New Innovations
Organized by the OPPO Research Institute in partnership with the Harvard GSAS Entrepreneur Community, the first regional demo event of the OPPO Inspiration Challenge 2023 was held at the Harvard Club in Boston on July 27. During the event, 15 selected start-ups from Europe, the United States of America and Israel presented their solutions to the jury. Following their presentations, attendees also had the opportunity to engage in in-depth technical discussions with Jason Liao, Director of the OPPO Research Institute, and leaders from Harvard Business School and investment institutions.

On July 31, the second regional demo event was held in Shenzhen in partnership with the China University-Enterprise Collaboration Innovation Alliance (CUEC). OPPO Vice President and China Market President Bobee Liu and OPPO Health Lab Manager Leo Zeng both attended the event, where they were joined by other judges from Qualcomm Ventures, Amazon Web Services, GSMA 5G IN and Beihang Investment. . During the event, attending media and guests also voted for the winners of the “Media Choice” and “Virtuous Innovation” awards.

The last regional demonstration event took place in Bangkok on August 7th. In partnership with one of the most influential universities in the APAC region – Chulalongkorn University – OPPO also invited experts from Amazon Web Services and Deloitte to participate in the evaluation process. Based on the four criteria of feasibility, innovation and originality, long-term potential and social value, the professional juries of each of the three regional demonstration events have now selected their respective top 5 proposals to constitute the shortlist. of 15 participants who will compete in the OPPO Inspiration Challenge 2023 Global Finals. To further facilitate the development of proposals through internal and external collaboration, OPPO will partner with KPMG to organize the acceleration camp before the global final demo event. During the camp, senior OPPO executives will join technology experts, investors, and industry partners to provide assistance to the top 15 global startups. Then the top 5 winning solutions will be selected at the global final demo event. Each winning startup will receive a $50,000 prize along with opportunities to help further develop their ideas, including production and commercialization opportunities, strategic partnerships, investments, and exposure at global technology events.
