HCMC to allocate more than 1 trillion VND ($40.7 million) to compensate 100 families and 25 organizations affected by a road and bridge construction project connecting Districts 4 and 7 with Central District 1 -city.
Under a plan approved by city lawmakers, compensation funds will be spent to clear a total of 1.7 acres in District 4.
The project will cover 11.3 hectares in the three districts, but there is no need to clear the land for the remaining area in districts 1 and 7.
Named Nguyen Khoai Bridge-Street, the project will consist of two parts: a bridge which will be 2.5 km long and the road which will be 2.3 km long.
This project, which will cost the city budget 3.7 trillion VND, will also include a viaduct.
It will connect D1 Street in Him Lam residential area of District 7 to Ben Van Don Street in District 4 and Vo Van Kiet Street in District 1 by crossing Te Canal and Ben Nghe Canal.
Under the current plan, construction will begin in District 1 later this year. In 2025, the compensation works will be completed and the entire site will be delivered so that the project will be fully completed within the next two years.
Once commissioned, it will ease pressure on roads connecting the southern part of the city to the city center, which are regularly blocked due to infrastructure projects that have dragged on for years.
