Winners in Southeast Asia The first furniture trade show proves the creativity of Malaysian talents and innovation that meets international standards
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, March 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), Southeast Asia’s largest and most important export-oriented furniture trade show, today celebrated Malaysia’s best emerging furniture designers at its MIFF 2026 Awards Ceremony, with winning designs cited as prime examples of exceptional innovation and creativity.
Held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC), the awards, comprising MIFF’s flagship FDC (Furniture Design Competition) and two exhibitor awards – the BPA (Best Presentation Award) and FEA (Furniture Excellence Award), recognize the creative excellence of exhibitors and emerging talents at the region’s most global furniture trade show.
Since its launch in 2010, MIFF FDC has become a vital platform to unveil and develop talented young designers looking to make their mark and help shape the future of Malaysia’s furniture design ecosystem. As with previous editions, MIFF FDC 2026 contributes to strengthening industrial collaboration and highlighting the creative spirit of design.
The MIFF awards were presented by Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Plantations and Commodities, YBhg. Dato’ Razali Mohamad in front of an international audience of furniture manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, industry influencers and media.
The main prize of MIFF FDC 2026 was awarded to Jessica Antoine from Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), who received an award of RM5,000 for ROEL. The second prize of RM3,000 was awarded to Doo Jade Qi from the Malaysian Institute of Art, for her OVERALL and the third prize of RM2,000 was awarded to Teh Jian Yin from The One Academy Penang for REKA SERIES REKA. Prathiin Saravanamuthu from Universiti Sains Malaysia received a special mention for STACKABLOCK.
MIFF FDC 2026 challenged designers under 40 to create bedroom furniture for children aged 5 to 9, combining imagination and practicality. Theme ‘Playful. Practical. Purposeful: Furniture for Generation Alpha,” the winning designs showcased a blend of functionality and originality sought by Generation Alpha and their millennial parents.
Ten finalists from the top twenty were selected by a regional jury led by Dr Eric Leong, with the 10 then taking into account votes from the public on site and on social media – a first for the event – to determine the top three winners. Judging criteria included creativity, functionality, ergonomics, safety, durability and presentation.
In addition to cash prizes, winners received trophies and certificates, and all finalists also received participation certificates. In total, MIFF FDC 2026 received 138 applications from 37 design institutions and private companies vying for top honors.
THE Best Mentor Price of RM2,000 went to Ooi Aik Khong from the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), with the lecturer winning the award again after winning in 2021. APU also won a second consecutive Best establishment Price.
MIFF 2026 Best Presentation Awardwhere winners are judged on stand design, creativity, construction and presentation, traveled to Chuanheng Furniture Products Sdn Bhd. Foshan Linsy Home Co., Ltd. took second place and Zhin Sheng Furniture Sdn Bhdthird place. ELK-Desa Furniture Products Sdn Bhd received on Informa Best Standswhile xOrdinary received on Special mentionwith head judge Enrico Cleva from EC&CO, Italy, warmly congratulating all the winners and entries.
The top of MIFF 2026 Furniture Excellence Awardthe Platinum Award was given to Oriental Decorator Sdn Bhd. Luxury Sleep Products Sdn Bhd won the Gold Award and Instyle Sofa Sdn Bhdthe Silver prize. THE Commendation from the judges The prizes in the Household and Office categories were awarded to Best-Beteck Furniture Sdn Bhd And Heshan Zonman furniture limited, respectively. The entries, in a category that encourages aesthetic, creative and visionary designs, were judged by a jury led by Zilahi Imre of Fast Forward Editorial SRL, Romania.
