Voice critics and many netizens said contestant Xuan Hanh deserved the top spot more than Tu Anh.
Le countered by saying that Hanh had immense untapped potential as she had a sought-after ‘business face’, but her performance on the podium in the final round of the competition was unconvincing and she still did not own the stage.”
“Hanh’s height is also something we took into account. If I had to choose two winners, I would definitely have chosen Hanh as well,” she said.
An hour before the winner was revealed, stylist Le Minh Ngoc congratulated Tu Anh for becoming the winner of The Face Vietnam 2023 via Facebook. Ngoc then apologized and explained that he had just landed after a flight and came across a rumor that Tu Anh had won the competition. Viewers were skeptical as official results had yet to be announced.
Le said Ngoc had contacted the organizers to apologize for causing confusion and misunderstanding with his message.
“I completely sympathize with Ngoc,” she said. “Maybe he’s too fond of Tu Anh, so when he saw some information on social media, he couldn’t contain his joy.”
As champion, Tu Anh will travel to discover the six most prestigious fashion capitals in the world: Paris, Milan, London, New York, Tokyo and Seoul.
Tu Anh, 21, has been hugely popular since the start of her career and remains a rising young favorite in the fashion industry.
