Blocking ambient noise during calls (voice isolation)
During a call on a mobile phone that appeared in the candidate version of iOS 16.4, “Ambient Noise Cancellation” is a function that “first processes the user’s voice and blocks out ambient noise”. Regarding the feature, which is already available in FaceTime, Apple says, “You can use it when you want to hear your own voice clearly while filtering out other sounds during a FaceTime call.”
You must make or receive a call to activate this feature. You can also open Control Center, tap Microphone Mode, and choose Block Ambient Noise. It’s not as good as the noise cancellation on the second-generation AirPods Pro, but it will make a big difference when you’re on a call in a noisy room.
Page turning animation in Apple Books

For some reason, Apple removed the page rotation (curl) animation in Apple Books in iOS 16. For those of you who were saddened by this decision, there is good news. Animation functionality is back in iOS 16.4. If you go to Apple Books settings, you will see a new Page Turn Animation tab with three options (Slide, Curl, or None). Choosing the curl option will make your iPhone feel like a little book again.
Duplicate detection in iCloud Shared Photo Library
iOS 16 introduces a new feature that can automatically detect duplicate photos and decide to merge them into one. However, this setting only applied to individual libraries, so it did not apply to iCloud Shared Photo Library. Applies from iOS 16.4. Switch to Shared Library, then scroll down to the Albums tab and select Duplicates.
