The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is looking at using smartphones as “universal authenticator” to establish a resident’s identity, a top official said on Wednesday. This is because the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has approved the development of centralised IT-enabled systems by C-DAC.
