Real claimed a victory against Atletico in the derby match

With 2 goals against Atletico, Real Madrid claimed an important victory in the Madrid derby match and continued their hope for the La Liga trophy though Atletico conserved their first place after the defeat.

A victory in a derby match is always important and meaningful, and last night, Real Madrid got that type of victory against their big rivalry Atletico Madrid. The white side played better at the beginning of the match, and they controlled the game right from the first minute. But it was not until the 15th minute that Real Madrid got the first goal of the match and claimed the lead.

A good corner kick from Toni Kross supported Casemiro to make a wonderful header. That beautiful strike lifted up the result for Los Blancos, and Real Madrid became more confident after accomplishing a goal.

Atletico did not give up that easily and counter attacked with some decent strikes. Los Rojiblancos got a clear path to the net of Thibaut Courtois after a good set piece of Joao Felix, but Thomas Lemar wasted the chance created by his Portuguese teammate. Such a waste consequently cost Atletico a whole game when Real Dani Carvajal got a rocketing shot from the distance at the 63th minute.

Goalkeeper Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid tried to save the day for his side, but the ball was outreach. It touched the post before contacting Oblak’s back and made its way to the back of the net.

Real Madrid extended their lead to 2 goals, and it was also the final result of the Madrid derby match. Though this result is disappointing, the Atleti managed to keep their first ranking in the La Liga fixture. On the other hand, Los Blancos decreased their margin with Atletico Madrid to 3 points, and with another winning, they could claim the position of their rivalry.
