Barcelona has to make an overturn in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 round as they lost to PSG in Camp Nou last night.
Barcelona was not really ready to face up against PSG last night despite the home stadium advantage. Sadly, playing in Camp Nou was not a benefit at all for the giant from Catalonia. They struggled badly throughout the game and let PSG be comfortable in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 round match (season 2020-2021). Ultimately, Barcelona has lost to PSG 4-1 and would have to score more than four goals without conceding any shots from Le Parisien in the second leg if they wanted to make it to the next round.
In fact, El Blaugrana controlled the ball for more time than their French visitor (51% compared to only 49%). But their outcome was not as good as PSG, in terms of turning shots into goals. Barca made 8 shots in total, but only 3 of them were on-target. Meanwhile, PSG created 8 shots but all of them made it to the goal and 4 of them hit the back of the net.
That was the difference that helped PSG overturn in the second half after conceding a penalty goal from Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in the 27th minute.
Kylian Mbappe equalized the score for the visiting team after only 5 minutes since Messi scored for Barca. The French side continued to dominate the match in the second half as Mbappe once again scored a goal in the 65th minute. Only 15 minutes on for the second half, but Barcelona nearly collapsed.
PSG maintained a good control in the next 5 minutes after they scored their second goals. Le Parisien kept a good pressure into the right back position of Barcelona where Serginho Dest was playing. The International American defender could not tame Mbappe. He often was left behind by the firing speed of the Frenchman.
And once again, PSG scored a goal, this time thanks to Moise Kean. A good header from the Italian striker led PSG to the third goal and Barca this time totally broke down.
Mbappe once again scored for PSG in the 85th minute and sealed the result of this match.
In the end, Barcelona lost again to PSG, but a chance for another overturn alike to the year 2017 rarely would happen. In that overturn, Barca still had service of Neymar and Luis Suarez, other two members of the power trio MSN. This time, they only have Lionel Messi. Besides, El Blaugrana would have to score up to 4 goals in order to make it through.
The chance for an overturn is 0.00 percent. PSG is perhaps through for the next round despite there is still one match away from them.
