My foreign supervisor often invites me to eat, buys me gifts, and creates opportunities for us to spend time together privately.
I am a 30 year old office worker. My job is demanding but rewarding, so I plan to stay there for the long term.
I’ve dated twice before, but I’ve been single since 2019, even though I’ve been complimented on my looks multiple times. I am a simple and cheerful woman, introverted and family oriented.
My direct superior is a few years older. Since about 90% of my work involves direct contact with him, we talk and spend a lot of time together.
He sometimes makes me feel like he’s flirting with me. For example, he often makes suggestive comments like we’re a couple, and he frequently asks me about my preferences and hobbies. I find him charming and I admit that I would like to progress if possible.
The problem is that there are rumors that he was dating a coworker before I joined the company. When they finally separated, this woman quit. As someone who wants to stay in this position longer, I don’t want this to happen to me.
I’ve also heard that single men over 35 often seek relationships because of their physical needs. If I date him, it could lead to physical intimacy before marriage, whereas I am a traditional woman and don’t want to have sex before marriage.
I know my thoughts may be redundant, since he and I are nothing yet, but I’m still worried.
What should I do?
