Authorities at Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport returned a bag containing $4,300 to a passenger en route to Thailand on Friday, within 15 minutes of discovering the lost bag.
The bag was found by Ha Thi Tuoi, an airport employee, placed on a trolley at stand B12 on the third floor of the airport, in a public area leading to international terminal T2.
After checking for explosives and other security clearances, the bag was handed over to the Noi Bai Aviation Security Center.
$4,300 in cash was found inside the bag, but it did not contain any personal documents. The airport’s mobile security team then asked the surveillance team to check the camera footage and find the owner of the bag.
The team then identified a passenger at stand B12 and determined him to be the owner of the forgotten bag, heading to the waiting area near gate 29.
The mobile security team then entered a quarantine area to meet the passenger and ask him to check his personal belongings. The passenger then realized that he had forgotten the bag, but could not remember where he had left it.
After the verification processes, the passenger was able to receive his bag in time to board flight TG561 en route to Bangkok, Thailand at 10:35 a.m. the same day.
An airport representative said the number of visitors to the airport was high after the Tet vacation.
During the seven days of Tet This year (between February 8 and 14), Noi Bai reported 365 cases of people forgetting and leaving their belongings at the airport.
