We live in an apartment complex which is not very high quality but offers good living conditions.
My family of five moved here four years ago and saw many tenants coming in and out of the opposition apartment.
A Japanese couple without children moved into this apartment six months ago. They have a dog, and often leave their home in the morning to go to work before returning at 1 p.m.
Most of them stay in their apartment all the time and do not interact with other residents in the neighborhood.
I have three children aged nine, six and three respectively. Children this age often talk loudly, cry and fight. We also talk and watch TV, which obviously makes some noise.
We sometimes leave our apartment door open so the kids can get in and out easily, but I think the soundproofing is still good.
So I don’t understand why this Japanese couple is complaining about the noise from my family. There was a point where they even came to my door, said things in an aggressive and rude manner, before slamming my apartment door as they left.
I reported the matter to the resort board and when a representative came to speak, this couple asked them to ask my family to stop making noise.
I think they are too harsh because my family has always done their best to minimize our noise. The owner of this apartment said he couldn’t do anything either since the couple had signed a one-year rental contract, but I feel really annoyed. I really want them to move soon.
What should I do?
