Manchester United fought hard afterward conceding early goals from the home team, but all of their efforts were not enough to save a point for the Red Devils. In the end, Manchester United received a defeat against RB Leipzig.
Last week, Manchester United lost against PSG in a match that they got to win at home, and this week, the English side continued to receive a defeat against RB Leipzig in their final match in Group H of the UEFA Champions League 2020-2021 and was eliminated from the next stage of the tournament.
It was the home team, RB Leipzig, that got the lead of the game, and continued to extend their margin to 3-0 in the 69th minute thanks to a goal from Justin Kluivert-son of infamous Dutchman Patrick Kluivert. Manchester United continued to fight hard for the match and they got 2 goals scored by Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in the 80th and 82nd minutes respectively. In the end, Manchester United received a 2-3 loss by RB Leipzig.
The goals festival was fired off by RB Leipzig’s Angelino at the 3rd minute. The Spaniard made a powerful left-footed finish after receiving a wonderful cross from the right-back Mukiele. David De Gea had no chance for a stoppage and concede a goal. RB Leipzig got the opening goal, but Manchester United was the team that played better in the next 10 minutes of the match.
The English side created several good opportunities against the goal of Leipzig, but it was Leipzig that once again uplifted the margin. Amadou Haidara was the one who scored a goal for Leipzig in the 13th minute with a powerful right-footed volley. RB Leipzig got the 2 goals margin, and they put Manchester United behind.
Manchester United could have scored a goal in the first half of it was not because of the wasting chance of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford. The two strikers had a terrible showcase and wasted so many good opportunities for their side to score a goal.
The Red Devils create a total of 19 shots but only 9 of them were on goal. Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba shined the opportunity of an overturned. Nonetheless, the third goal scored by Justin Kluivert in the 69th minute ended everything.
With this defeat, Manchester United lost their first position to RB Leipzig and was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League this season no matter the result between PSG and Istanbul BB.
