Heavy rain and floodwaters from areas upstream of rivers caused Hue city to flood on Tuesday evening, leaving many roads and residential areas under deep water.

More than 1,000 houses on Hen Islet in the Huong area had 0.5 m of water.

The town of Bao Vinh, in the Huong Vinh district, is also flooded.
Thua Thien Hue Hydrometeorological Station said that due to the influence of a cold air mass and easterly winds at high altitudes, Thua Thien Hue received torrential rains of 790 to 910 mm during of the last 24 hours.
More heavy rain is forecast for Wednesday and further flooding is expected.
Heavy rains triggered by a cold air mass caused flooding in the central region, particularly in the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.
