A HCMC man jumped into a canal to protest his tricycle being seized by traffic police officers for numerous violations.
The 57-year-old man, named Van Nguyen*, had his tricycle seized by District 11 police on Friday for several offenses on the Tan Hoa-Lo Gom canal road section.
On October 28, a group of police officers, including Major Nguyen Thanh Trung and Lieutenant Le Chau Thanh Huy, were patrolling around District 11 for traffic violations when they found Nguyen’s tricycle carrying too much cargo. a check.
Police informed Nguyen that his vehicle was carrying too much cargo and that he did not have a driver’s license or registration. Nguyen tried to persuade the police officers to ignore the violations but failed, so he jumped into the Tan Hoa canal to “escape the violations and protest against the police officers.”
Huy then enlisted the help of a local to go down the canal and use ropes to pull Nguyen out of the canal. Nguyen and his tricycle were then taken to the District 11 police station for further questioning.
Nguyen and his wife were later summoned by police and Nguyen admitted to his violations.
