The Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) gold price fell 2.63 percent to VND74 million ($3,049.04) per tael on Saturday morning.
The price of the gold ring fell 0.32% to 63.05 million VND per tael. One tael is equal to 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.
Globally, gold prices remained steady on Friday as they headed towards the end of their best year since 2020 at levels comfortably above $2,000 an ounce, supported by hopes that the US Federal Reserve could cut interest rates as early as March. Reuters reported.
Spot gold was at $2,064.34 an ounce, little changed from the previous session. U.S. gold futures fell 0.6% to $2,071.80.
Bullion is up 13% so far in a year in which prices have fluctuated from a low near $1,800 to a record high of $2,135.40.
