Music has saved us all this year. And what better way to say goodbye to 2020 than to listen to this new album from Eminem.
The Detroit rap god surprised the world with an unexpected drop of a second album for 2020, “Music to Be Murdered By – Side B”, the companion to his 11th studio album released in January which topped the Billboard 200 chart.
Executive produced by Eminem himself and Dr. Dre, the deluxe edition of the album features Skylar Grey, DJ Premier, Ty Dolla, $ign, Dr. Dre, Sly Pyper, MAJ and White Gold.
Days before he surprise-released the album, clues were already circulating online by avid Eminem fans. Among the hints was a post from the rapper’s collaborator Dem Jointz, who shared an Instagram photo featuring projects that the producer had worked on this year, including Side B cover art. The famous rapper never confirmed it.
Eminem has a knack for surprise releases – which makes fans from around the globe more giddy when he drops one. His January album and the Kamikazee released in 2018 also arrived without advance warning.
The full-on sequel album contains a new collection of 16 songs.
Through one of his songs, the rapper offered an apology to Rihanna for saying that he “sided” with Chris Brown on a decade-old track that leaked online in 2019.
In the new track “Zeus”, Eminem sang “But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest / And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna / For that song that leaked, I’m sorry, Ri / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief / Regardless it was wrong of me.”
You can stream Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By – Side B (Deluxe) on Spotify and Apple Music.
Aside from Eminem, Taylor Swift also surprised everyone with the “sister” record of Folklore – Evemore.
Tay tay dropped her 9th studio album on Thursday last week, just days before her 31st birthday.
“To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in,” Taylor posted on her social media accounts.
