A HCMC medical worker was attacked by a man while providing first aid to a drunk patient who had passed out in a pub toilet.
District 7 Public Hospital received a call for emergency help at a pub in the district on December 3.
A drunk client went to the bathroom and passed out, hospital director Nguyen The Vu said Wednesday.
When help arrived, the man was still intact on the bathroom floor.
One of the doctors asked another man who was previously drinking with the patient to help lift him and put him on a stretcher, but the man reprimanded him.
“Why don’t you do it yourself, why ask for help?” He shouted.
After the patient was placed on the stretcher, the man stood behind the doctor and kicked him hard in the back.
The hospital then reported the case to local police. The police invited the doctor to make a statement
Vu said that two weeks ago, another doctor at the hospital was also attacked.

On November 22, during a night shift, the hospital emergency room received a man in his fifties injured following a fall.
While a doctor was performing a surgical suture, a family member was asked to come out, but they refused and shouted at the doctor.
This doctor decided to stop the suture and walked out of the room.
However, the family member, who appeared drunk, followed and slapped the doctor.
Given the two attacks, Vu asked District 7 police to take measures to better protect the hospital’s medical staff.
