In its annual Wrapped data, Spotify revealed American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish topped the list for most-streamed female artist of 2020 for the second year in a row.
Behind her comes Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande at two and three, while Dua Lipa and Halsey sit at four and five.
Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia and Don’t Start Now both landed fifth for Most Streamed Albums Globally and Most Streamed Songs Globally, respectively.
Australian singer and songwriter Toni Watson’s, known professionally as Tones and I, Dance Monkey is the number two Most Streamed Songs Globally.
Bad Bunny bagged himself most streamed artist of 2020 with more than 8.2 billion streams globally this year.
The most-streamed album globally of 2020 is Bad Bunny’s “YHLQMDLG” at 3.3 billion streams, followed by The Weeknd’s “After Hours” and Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding.”
For podcasts, “The Joe Rogan Experience” was the most popular podcast globally, with “NPR News Now,” “TED Talks Daily,” “The Daily,” “The Michelle Obama Podcast” and “Call Her Daddy” following Rogan.
With all the negative things happening around the world – with the COVID-19 pandemic making us anxious and scared every second of the day, it was music that “acted as a companion, strengthening our connections with the world around us and giving us hope,” according to Spotify’s #2020Wrapped post.
The yearly review by the music streaming platform gives its listeners a glimpse at how and what the whole world was listening to the whole year.
