The private plane of American billionaire Bill Gates left Da Nang International Airport on Thursday evening, ending his 4-day vacation in this city in central Vietnam with his girlfriend.
The plane took off at 9:22 p.m. Flight information was displayed when the plane was in the air and the radar was on.
During the 4-day trip, he and his girlfriend Paula Hurd stayed at a five-star resort on the Son Tra Peninsula. On Wednesday, they enjoyed tea together and meditated under the guidance of a Vietnamese tea artist on the summit of Ban Co Mountain, 400 meters above sea level.
Gates and his girlfriend also played tennis and pickleball at lunchtime Thursday outside the resort.
Nguyen Thi Hoai An, deputy director of the Da Nang Tourism Department, said Gates’ holiday helped the city boost high-quality tourism development undertaken for many years.
City leaders sent him a welcome letter, thanking him for choosing Da Nang as a tourist destination.
Gates and his girlfriend landed in Da Nang on Monday aboard their private plane, a Gulfstream G650ER model, marking his return to Vietnam after 18 years.
In addition to Gates’ visit, Da Nang has recently attracted many wealthy Indian couples to celebrate their weddings there.
