Arsenal got a gift on their Boxing Day after claiming a big victory against Chelsea. What a win for the Red side of North London.
Frank Lampard was totally pissed by this loss, believing that he and his team could have a better result than a defeat. Chelsea lost to Arsenal in the Boxing Day was a big disappointment. But it was an understanding result as the West London side was the worse side, playing without confidence and energy to accomplish the win.
Arsenal was in the bottom half of the English Premier League table before this match, needing a win to get themselves uplifted to a higher position. The side from North London pushed the tempo of this game high, attacking with an intense tendency.
They set the rule of the game, making Chelsea run behind them and chase for their speed.
Despite wrestling with a fierce Arsenal, Chelsea managed to deal with it fairly well. Both sides created a total of 7 shots towards the goal. But there was only one team that could make it to the back of the net.
And it was Arsenal that accomplished such a task. The Gunners scored 2 opening goals in the first half thanks to Alexandre Lacazette (in the 34th minute) and Granit Xakha (in the 44th minute) respectively.
Arsenal scored some important goals but it thanks to some decent mistakes of Chelsea’s players.
In the first goal, Reece James of Chelsea created a fault contact with Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney inside the box. Though the referee denied a penalty at the first place, a VAR check then granted to Arsenal a penalty and Lacazette did not waste a chance.
While the second goal came after a free kick situation caused by N’Golo Kante. Xakha cost that fault of Kante, curved the ball into the back of the net with a beautifully sensational shot.
Two goals in the late time of the first half shut down the fighting spirit of the Blues. Chelsea seemingly wanted to quit the match after two late goals shock during the first half. Unfortunately, they soon received another shock in the 56th minute when Bukayo Saka of Arsenal made a it to the third goal for the home team.
Chelsea tried to bounce back, looking forward to scoring goals but only succeeded one time. Tammy Abraham tapped in a good pass of Callum Hudson-Odoi, scoring the honorable goal for the visiting team. Chelsea could actually have scored more if Jorginho did not waste a meaningful chance for the Blues.
Receiving this defeat, Chelsea miss a chance to climb to a higher position on the English Premier League table. Whereas Arsenal climbed to the position 14th on the table.
