Investigator Magazine reported that a growing number of viewers are campaigning to boycott the film, which is currently being shown.
“I’m boycotting his drama,” read a comment under a post about the film on South Korean online community theqoo.
“That’s why I don’t watch his drama,” expressed another netizen with a similar stance. “I won’t watch any of his dramas in the future either.”
A recent report published Monday by a South Korean newspaper Shipping discovered that Kang had obtained a loan of 250 million won ($187,000) and then transferred that sum to Park, allegedly for his living expenses.
In retaliation for the allegations, Park’s management company, Hook Entertainment, released a statement the same day. The statement clarified that the loan was taken out by Kang through an account in Park’s name, and that Park did not use the money for personal living expenses.
Additionally, the agency stressed that Park did not engage in any illegal activities or receive any illegal benefits.
Park also reportedly responded to the accusations on her Instagram, stating that she was “sick of all this” and sharing her belief in the power of honesty.
This controversy follows his previous refusal in September 2022, through his agency, to receive financial benefits from Kang. This denial coincided with their split, which came just two days after her relationship with Kang became public.
Kang was arrested in early 2023 on charges of embezzlement and market manipulation, as reported Yonhap News Agency.
After his arrest, investigators questioned Park about his possible involvement in Kang’s alleged illegal activities. The Korean Herald reported that the investigation was aimed at determining whether Park profited from illegal transactions within the company or its subsidiaries.
Park has reportedly denied all allegations regarding his involvement.
Park, 38, made her debut in the entertainment industry as a model in 2005 with a commercial for SK Telecom, a major South Korean telecommunications company.
She started her acting career in 2006 and quickly rose to fame. Among his most notable works are the television series “High Kick! “, “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”.
At the press conference for “Marry My Husband”, Park spoke publicly for the first time about her relationship with Kang, describing it as giving her an “extremely tiring year”.
