Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem (born 1972, Vietnam)
After playing for Cong An Thanh Hoa FC, Nam Dinh FC, LG ACB and Hoa Phat Ha Noi, Nghiem joined Hanoi FC after his retirement and accompanied the team from its debut in the Third Division until his promotion to the V-League.
In 2016, he took over the first team and helped the club win three V-League titles, two National Cups, three Super Cups and reached the inter-zonal semi-finals of the AFC Cup. Five years later, Nghiem was sacked as Hanoi showed signs of slowing down.
In 2022, the coach born in Thanh Hoa joined Hai Phong FC and immediately established himself. Despite limited resources, he helped the club play solid attacking football and finish second – a feat which earned him the Best Coach award at the end of the V-League season.
Nghiem’s weaknesses may be his short-tempered nature and lack of experience coaching a national team.
