Chi Pu first became a foreign frontier sensation with her spellbinding performances on the hugely popular Chinese reality TV music competition show “Women Who Make Waves.”
The first episode of the new show, which aired earlier this month, features the Vietnamese singer exploring the culture and culinary specialties of the Chinese port city of Quanzhou. She was taken there by four other hosts, including Taiwanese singer Ella, Chinese TV personality Wu Xin, Taiwanese-American rapper-singer Amber Liu and Chinese actress Janice Wu.
We see the team performing traditional dances with a group of locals and then wandering around town to find the addresses given to them by the production team, which are three restaurants. Of these addresses, two are established restaurants, while one is a knock-off built by the production team.
The team will have to find out which restaurant is the “counterfeit” after trying dishes served there.
“[I go] In Quanzhou, seeing beautiful scenery, filling our stomachs with food, and laughing out loud with sisters,” Chi Pu wrote on her Facebook, expressing her emotions after completing the first phase of her journey with the show.
The next episodes of the show are expected to air in the coming weeks.
Chi Pu, 30, is a pop actress and singer. She was honored on the Forbes list of Asia-Pacific’s 100 Most Influential Digital Stars of 2020.
She made her debut in the Chinese market with her appearance on “Sisters Who Make Waves”, one of China’s most famous reality shows. Her musical performances throughout the show drew a lot of attention from the local audience, and she won sixth place at the end of the show.
