Twitter has announced two new upcoming features for its platform. The first is Super Follows, which is the company’s first premium feature. The other is the communities.

Super Follows allows users to charge their subscribers for access to special content. For a fixed monthly fee, Super Followers will, for example, be able to see exclusive content, receive a subscriber newsletter, offers and discounts on your products, community access, a special supporter badge and more. The options here depend on the account and what they want to offer their followers.
This functionality is similar to the Patreon and YouTube subscription options. It allows users to earn directly from their followers and allows Twitter to reduce those revenues.

The other feature is Communities. Users will be able to create and join groups with a particular topic or interest. Those members of those communities will then be able to see posts from like-minded individuals instead of the somewhat random nature of the current timeline structure.
There is no official word yet on when these features will be available.
