Leaked renderings and images from the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro suggest these phones won’t ship with periscope lenses, and we’ve heard the same from a reliable tipster.
Digital Chat Station, who said the lineup would come with a regular telephoto lens instead. Now tipster Max Jambor has corroborated this point, claiming that neither the Vanilla OnePlus 9 variant nor the Pro variant will feature a periscope module.
It’s unclear why OnePlus doesn’t want to implement this technology since Oppo and Realme launched smartphones with a periscope camera on board, and it will be interesting to hear the Chinese phone maker’s rationale behind this move.

As OnePlus lets periscope technology pass over to the OnePlus 9 series, we hope to see the lineup made even more significant with camera improvements as OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said the company will focus its R&D efforts to improve cameras from his smartphones.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are rumored to arrive in March with Snapdragon 888 SoC and 120Hz displays. These will be joined by a Lite variant, which would come with a Snapdragon 865 at the helm.
