SINGAPORE, February 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — SingHealth, Singapore’s largest public health hub, has opened a new MRI center at Dunearn Village, marking its first MRI facility located outside of a hospital campus and extending diagnostic imaging services to the community.
Developed in collaboration with United Imaging Healthcare, a global provider of AI-powered medical imaging equipment and healthcare solutions, the center introduces a new operating model designed to increase imaging capacity while improving patient experience and workflow efficiency.
Fully licensed and operated by RADSC SGH, the facility houses three United Imaging MRI systems, two of which uMR Omega units and one uMR 680. The uMR Omega, United Imaging’s flagship MRI platform, featuring the world’s first ultra-wide 75 cm bore and advanced AI-based imaging technologies, is designed to expand clinical capabilities while improving patient comfort by reducing anxiety and accommodating a wider range of body types.
The project began in April 2025 and was officially opened on February 14, 2026. The center also marked the signing of the first reference site agreement between SingHealth and United Imaging Healthcare on November 21, 2025.
Situated in a community environment, the center incorporates workflow and design innovations aimed at improving the patient and staff experience. These include mobile registration and payment through the Health Buddy app, recyclable patient gowns, private waiting pods and a redesigned patient flow to minimize movement and wait time. Expanded clinical roles for Patient Support Associates and Registered Nurses further enhance operational flexibility and efficiency.
Additional features include a door frame metal detector for safer, more ergonomic screening, scan cohort strategies to optimize utilization, and a multi-dose injection system that reduces contrast waste and consumables while supporting sustainability goals.
Professor Andrew Tan, Chairman of the Department of Radiological Sciences at SingHealth, noted that: “The new SingHealth MRI Center reflects our continued commitment to person-centered care and environmental stewardship. By synergizing UIH’s advanced capabilities with SingHealth’s innovative service delivery models, we are raising the standards in diagnostic imaging and ensuring they prioritize both the patient experience and the importance of environmental sustainability. With these improvements, we are excited to offer this key service to more patients and ensure they continue to receive the best accessible care possible. »
Jusong Xia, PhD, president of international affairs at United Imaging Healthcare, added: “This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to advanced medical imaging through intelligent technology. By integrating AI-powered MRI solutions into community healthcare settings, we aim to support more efficient clinical workflows while helping to make high-quality diagnostic services more accessible to patients in Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region.
By extending MRI services beyond hospital campuses, the SingHealth MRI Center at Dunearn Village increases system-wide capacity while driving a scalable approach to community diagnostic imaging. The collaboration brings together SingHealth’s clinical expertise and United Imaging’s AI-powered MRI technology to support more accessible and efficient imaging services for patients in Singapore.
