A few weeks ago, a renowned Samsung prognosticator said that Samsung is working on a smartwatch powered by Wear OS and will be ditching Tizen OS. And while we can’t say that the latter is safe, the former seems to be further supported by stronger evidence.

In a teardown of the Galaxy S20 kernel source code, an XDA developer discovered that there was a device named “Merlot” and that it was associated with Google’s Wear operating system. The device was mentioned even alongside the already released Galaxy Watch3 with the codename “Noblesse”.
At the moment, information is quite scarce, but we hope to see more evidence soon to paint a more complete picture. We especially wonder if Samsung will switch to Wear OS or develop smart wearable devices with Google’s operating system alongside its Tizen operating system portfolio.
