Samsung Display has confirmed it works on roll-up and slide-out screens, similar to what LG teased at its CES 2021 event. The conglomerate’s display division also had other interesting information to share.
Samsung Display senior vice president Choi Kwon-young spoke after the company released its financial report and said its first roll up and slide screens will arrive this year. It’s reasonable to assume that Samsung’s mobile division will be the first to adopt them, but this has not been explicitly confirmed.
Meanwhile, we should see flip-up screens embrace new technology, as the company relies on features like variable refresh rate and low power to stay ahead in the increasingly crowded regular OLED market. . Unfortunately, the technologies that could beautify the Z Flip3 and Galaxy Fold3 have been named.
