The much-awaited upgrade of the Apple smartphone could be released in the fall of 2021. And the production of the flagship phone has started; Samsung and LG have reportedly been manufacturing the display of Cupertino’s supposed “iPhone 13.”

The “iPhone 13” is expected to see the day of light in late 2021. The anticipated modifications are the Lightning port removal to fully embrace the wireless charging technology, improved camera, and even a more advanced and fluid display.
Aside from said features, rumors say that there will also be four variations to expect: the “iPhone 13 mini,” “the iPhone 13,” “the iPhone 13 Pro,” and the “iPhone 13 Pro Max.” All of which are similar to the various versions that the iPhone 12 had.
“iPhone 13” Display Upgrade
According to Apple Insider, the display of the iPhone 13 Pro models is rumored to flaunt an eye-candy 120Hz screen with low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO), exclusively manufactured by Samsung Display.
The said specs are what Apple calls the ProMotion technology, which was first used in the iPad Pro. Hence, it is expected that the iPhone will also flaunt the said feature.
The other two non-Pro models, on the other hand, will be carrying low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) OLED panels from LG Display.
Samsung’s LTPO Display
The iPhone 13’s switch to a display similar to Samsung Galaxy S21 or the LTPO was rumored in November 2020.
With that, the expected display of the “iPhone 13” will be using the LTPO technology of Samsung. The South Korean company is the sole producer of the said low-power 120Hz display.
The Elec first reported that Samsung Display has begun manufacturing the OLED displays of the next Apple flagship phone. It is earlier when compared to the timeline of iPhone 12’s production last year. In addition, the Galaxy phone maker will be creating 80 million unis for the Cupertino giant.
The brainchild of the Galaxy phone maker is the answer to the power-hogging problem that screens with high refresh rates have, Toms Guide reports. As such, it has been popular for Android phones in 2021.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra first carried the said tech.

LG’s LTPS Display
LG has also started the production of displays for iPhone, ten days after Samsung did. It will be producing approximately 30 million screen technology for 30 million lower-tier iPhones.
The South Korean giant, which recently exited the smartphone market, was also behind the 6.1-inch OLED display of the iPhone 12.
