Apple is looking to release an OLED iPad Pro next year. By a Digitimes report, Apple will use a 10.9-inch OLED panel for its 2022 iPad Pro. The report states that Apple is also planning a 12.9-inch OLED iPad Pro and even a 16-inch OLED MacBook Pro to follow later in 2022.
The report is a bit questionable, especially given the many sources pointing to Apple’s 2021 lineup of iPad Pro and MacBook Pro adopting new mini-LED display technology.
The first time we got to see an iPad mini LED is this month. The new redesigned MacBook Pro 14 and Pro 16 powered by Apple Silicon are also expected to feature mini-LED displays in 2021.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of an OLED iPad. A Korean report previously indicated that an OLED iPad would arrive in the second half of 2021.
The Digitimes report claims that Apple is experimenting with mini-LED, micro-LED and OLED technologies for its iPad and MacBook range.
Mini-LEDs and micro-LEDs are technologies that bring huge improvements to LCDs, both in terms of color quality and brightness. The micro-LED in particular is expected to challenge the OLED for the best display technology, claiming much higher brightness, equally deep blacks, without suffering from scorching. But the micro-LED is still in its infancy. The mini-LED is already being used in televisions in 2021 and is expected to appear on several tablets and laptops this year.
