Pete Buttigieg, 39, will be the Transportation Secretary and the first openly gay cabinet have been approved by the Senate.
Pete Buttigieg was selected to be the new Transportation Secretary of Joe Biden’s presidential position. He is the youngest member of the president’s cabinet. The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Buttigieg’s appointment.
Before taking this role, Buttigieg used to be the mayor of South Bend, Indianapolis and a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate. He will have mission of overlook for the nation’s infrastructure.
He won this position by a vote victory of 86 to 13, and he became the first openly gay cabinet secretary. Buttigieg’s mission is quite decent that support Biden‘s goal on climate change, racial justice, job creation and economic recovery.
His new role will be challenging. He will take over a huge agency of more than 50.000 people and control around $87 billion in transportation funding.

Especially in the pandemic time, his job will be heavier. He will most likely play a key role in planning a $2 trillion national infrastructure project.
But this new secretary believed that he could do something for the national infrastructure.
I believe good transportation policy can play no less a role than making possible the American dream. But I also recognize that at their worst, misguided policies and missed opportunities in transportation can reinforce racial and economic inequality.
Buttigieg said.
