Do you never settle down? When it comes to updates to the operator’s branded devices, OnePlus looks more like Sometimes to Tune. Or even – Always settle. We’re talking about how long it takes carrier versions of its handsets to receive new Android updates.
For example, the OnePlus 8. Unlocked units have been bathing in Android 11 glory since mid-October. And yet, if you bought one from Verizon or T-Mobile, the rollout only started today, over three months later.

It’s something. But hey, it’s better than nothing. So if you have a OnePlus 8 on Verizon or T-Mobile, it might be time to check for an update. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get it, as the deployment needs to be organized as usual. But at least it’s rolling now, so in a few days (or, if you’re really unlucky – weeks), you’ll also have Android 11. Just in time for Google to launch the first beta of Android 12. Shhh, don’t. don’t tell OnePlus.
Regardless, the new version is labeled IN2019_15_210110 for Verizon and brings with it the November 2020 (drumbeat) security patch level. We’re going to pretend it’s not replaced with not one but two more recent security update levels (three Mondays), just like OnePlus. You also get improvements for 5G UWB elements.
T-Mobile’s version is 11.0.1.1.IN55CB, and this one contains the security fixes for December 2020. Better, but still not current.
