Nvidia fans have a lot of waiting during the previous months, and this time, the RTX 3050 line-up has arrived. The chipmaker said that the GPUs will be released in the summer for an affordable starting price of $799.
The entry-level processors, RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti will be boasting a powerful ray tracing capability as well as the performance-boosting Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology.
Their names suggest that they will be cheaper than their predecessor, RTX 3060. Having said that, they will also feature a less memory space of 4GB, as well as a lesser number of ray-tracing cores, tensor, and more.

According to a report by Ars Technica on Wednesday, May 12, the RTX 3050 GPU has the least number of Nvidia CUDA cores. It only has 2,048 cores compared to its relative, RTX 3050 Ti. Moreover, the RTX 3060 has 3,840 CUDA cores, while the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080 have 5,120 and 6,144 respectively.
When it comes to tensor, RTX 3080 has the most number of it at 192. It is followed by the RTX 3070 with 160 tensor cores, RTX 3060 with 120, RTX 3050 Ti with 80, and lastly the RTX 3050 with only 64 cores. All of them have third-gen cores.

For the ray-tracing cores (all 2nd-gen), RTX 3050 has 16, RTX 3050 Ti consists of 20, while the RTX 3060 contains 30 of them. RTX 3070 has 40, and the RTX 3080 has the most abundant number of ray-tracing cores at 48.
Meanwhile, RTX 3080 has 1,245-1,710 MHz for its boost clock, followed by the 1,290-1620 of RTX 3070. RTX 3060 has 1,283-1,703 whereas the RTX 3050 Ti has 1,035-1,695 and RTX 3050 features 1,057-1,740 MHz.
In the subsystem power comparison, the two entry-level RTX 3050 GPUs share the same feature at 35-80W. RTX 3060 has 60-115W while the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080 have 80-125W and 80-150+W respectively.
In the field of standard memory configuration, RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti again have a similar characteristic (4GB GDDR6). RTX 3060 boasts its 6GB GDDR6 and the RTX 3070 has 8GB GDDR6.
The most superior RTX 3080 GPU has both 16GB and 8GB versions.
Moving forward to memory interface width, the two frontrunners, RTX 3080 and 3070 has both 256-bit while the two cheapest GPUs feature 1280bit. Only the RTX 3060 has different width of 192-bit.
The Nvidia architecture of five GPUs is ampere. There is also a PCI Express Gen 4 present in the above-mentioned processors, as well as the HDMI 2.1 compatibility.
CNET reported that we will be seeing RTX 3050 GPUs in June. They will also be competing with AMD RX 6000 series.
What Could DLSS Do?
The technology of DLSS lets the users enjoy gaming in a lower resolution. If you want a higher resolution, you can upscale it using AI so you have smoother fps in the native resolution.
While it appears to be too good to be true, your Nvidia card can take you to places you never expect. Low-spec gaming laptops will benefit the most from these GPUs.
