Nubia’s Red Magic line has established itself as one of the leaders in the gaming smartphone world. The latest additions are the Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro. The Pro sports a faster 120W charge, up to 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as well as a more aggressive design. The rest of the specifications are identical on both models. The Red Magic 6 duo is the first phone to launch with 165Hz refresh rate screens. They also pack the flagship Snapdragon 888, fan cooling, and run Red Magic OS 4 based on Android 11.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the 6.8 inch FHD + AMOLED display with its 165Hz adaptive refresh rate. When the screen is not showing dynamic content, it drops to 30Hz, but it can. quickly scale up to 120 Hz in menus or applications and up to 165 Hz in supported game titles. The panel also supports 360Hz multi-touch sample rate and up to 500Hz one-finger sample rate. The screen supports 10-bit color and also has a fingerprint scanner placed under the screen.
Red Magic 6 Pro
Touch-sensitive shoulder triggers are making a return on this year’s Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro and now support a 400Hz touch sample rate to minimize input latency. Another staple of Red Magic – the active cooling air fan is also present and now spins at 18,000 RPM on the Red Magic 6 and 20,000 RPM on the Pro to help control thermals. Both models also come with multiple copper heat sinks that further boost cooling.
Around the glass back we find a triple camera setup with a 64MP main camera. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide snapper and a 2MP macro camera.
The Red magic 6 series Snapdragon 888 is paired with fast LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The top of the line Red Magic 6 Pro Transparent Edition comes with a whopping 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The Red magic 6’s battery measures 5050mAh and supports 65W fast charging that does a full recharge in 38 minutes. The 6 Pro cuts the capacity down to 4,500mAh but delivers a 120W charge, which is supposed to achieve a 0-50% charge in just 5 minutes. Both models come with headphone jacks and are compatible with nubia’s optional air cooling accessory.
The nubia Red Magic 6 starts at CNY 3,799 ($ 587) for version 8/128. You can also choose between the 12/128 GB version for CNY 4099 ($ 634) or the 12/256 GB variant for CNY 4399 ($ 680).
The Red Magic 6 Pro starts at CNY 4,399 ($ 680) in its 12/128 GB version. There are also 12/256 GB (CNY 4799) and 16/256 GB (CNY 5,299) variants.
The top-of-the-line Transparent Edition with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at CNY 5,599 ($ 865). While the absolute maximum unit with 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will sell for CNY 6,599 ($ 1,020).
Pre-orders in China are already underway and first sales are scheduled for March 11. We have also received confirmation that the Red magic 6 series will soon hit global markets.
