Nokia announced that the Nokia 2720 flip phone is coming to the United States via Verizon on May 20.

According to Engadget, the phone will come with a subscription plan and a Google Assistant service. The best thing about a flip phone is that you can just clasp it shut to end a call, which is more satisfying than thumbing a screen.
That, together with a keypad, may justify the $80 price tag of the phone. However, users will have to adjust to the small 2.8-inch screen if they are downsizing from a modern handset. An even smaller external display shows users who is calling and lets them check their notifications.

Aside from that, the new Nokia 2720 is best summed up as a feature phone with some whistles and bells. It will include extras like 4G connectivity, a web browser, Google Assistant, access to a pared-down KaiOS app store featuring WhatsApp, Facebook, and some mobile games.
The lack of background apps also means the battery will last a lot longer than a smartphone’s. Those who are interested can get the Nokia 2720 V Flip on May 20 from Verizon’s online store or the My Verizon app.

The new Nokia 2720 Flip has most of the apps and services that is needed in a phone today.
Users will have to access all of them in a tiny screen and will have to type them with a basic T9 keyboard, but they won’t be cut out of their WhatsApp conversations, go without email, or they won’t go without Google Maps.
Nevertheless, users would need to have the patience to use these services on a device that is limited. Maps an emails take a long time to load, and WhatsApp messages take time to manually type out, according to The Verge.
Users may not be fully cut off from the modern world, but the limited hardware that these apps are running on means that you are running on limited hardware too.
The Nokia 2720 Flip is not trying to compete with any smartphone on the market. It has a small screen with a resolution of just 240 x 320, a 2-megapixel camera without any selfie camera, a dual-core 1.1GHz CPU, and just 512MB of internal storage. It can connect to both 4G LTE networks and Wi-Fi, and it’s got Bluetooth for connecting to wireless headphones.
Unfortunately, the phone only shows the basic functionality of services like WhatsApp, and it can’t show other services like live location and group chats.
It is also the same story when it comes to the phone’s Twitter client, web browser, email app, or calendar–even Google Maps app.
The phone does have all of these services, but it only features limited features. But, it could be a good backup phone for those who need a secondary device.
