Smartphone makers have slowly moved away from compact flagships, with only Apple managing to deliver a small but powerful device in 2020 – the iPhone 12 mini.
According to information from OnLeaks, Sony is on the verge of delivering a compact smartphone and it could well be part of the Premium Compact range. However, a different source from Japan says that it may not be a flagship, but rather an entry-level device powered by the Snapdragon 480 chipset. Either way, we get live images from the phone.

The images reveal a small device with some key design elements we’ve seen in previous Xperia devices: big screen, dedicated camera button, vertical camera setup. However, it looks like it won’t escape the scourge of teardrop notches for selfie cameras – while other manufacturers have embraced the infamous solution wholeheartedly, Sony has been hesitant to introduce it and only brought it in the Xperia L4.

This phone is said to have a 5.5 inch screen. The back doesn’t impress much either – two cameras and a single LED flash. Since this phone has a 3.5mm audio jack, it could very well be aimed at users on a budget rather than those looking for a compact Android flagship.
