A former Google Ads head has recently parted ways with the company and established “Neeva,” a rival company that aims to debut an “ads-free” search engine that directly goes against Google’s current setup. Sridhar Ramaswamy was initially considered as a boss in the Google Ads division but has seen the heavy reliance it has and decided to create something new for people.
Google has been in the game for a very long time now, and it has toppled other search engine giants it initially started with, including the likes of Bing and Yahoo, which are now hanging out on the sidelines.
Apart from being popular due to its search engines, Google is also known for its ads placement and program, which comes in direct relationship with its web browsing, known as Google search ads. For some, this is a profitable venture, but for others, including several members of the public and Sridhar Ramaswamy, it is a nuisance that needs to be taken away.

Neeva Rises from Google’s Search Ads Legacy

There was no way Google would remove its search ads from its engine and internet functions, particularly because this is one of the company’s sources of income from the different partner companies it has. Google’s former ads boss, Sridhar Ramaswamy, has had enough of this tactic, which in his opinion, lacks in quality and actual need of people using the feature.
According to the recently concluded Big Technology Podcast by Alex Kantrowitz, Ramaswamy has revealed that he is leading a new company to combat that of Google, and go ad-free with its searches. Despite working for Google’s advertisement division for years, the new CEO believes that an ad-supported free search engine does not work well or is efficient.
With this, Ramaswamy has formed “Neeva,” a startup company that aims to debut a fully advertisement-free search engine that would be more optimized for people’s needs and wants. A search engine that does not reflect that of an advertisement for every search is the way to go forward, says Ramaswamy.

In the interview and via CNBC’s transcription, Ramaswamy has revealed that Neeva will be a subscription-based search engine, which would be better than the free and ad-supported feature like Google. He believes that affiliate links and ad-supported search engines cannot deliver the needs of a user, as it includes those of which pays to be at the top of searches.
Subscription models like Netflix and Spotify’s music channel have shown massive growth and effective targeted service for media, which changes the advertisement model to generate revenue for a company. Instead of getting random, unwanted ads, users can pay instead and get the search results they need in an instant.
