My wife is an office worker in her thirties. She is frank and likes everything to be clear.
We just bought an apartment. For me, living in an apartment complex means that we sometimes have to lower our standards, because there are many people in the same complex, whose lifestyles can break down.
But my wife doesn’t think so. She is always annoyed by the negligence of our neighbors.
For example, she complains when water drips from our neighbor’s trash bags on the hallway floor. She complains when children hang around and make noise in the hallway. And if complaining directly to these people doesn’t work, she gets upset and tells the resort board directly.
The relationship between us and our neighbors has gradually deteriorated because of this.
The most recent incident is of my wife complaining about the family living upstairs getting up and cutting meat at 5am every day. She even filed a complaint with the local police.
I had to convince my wife that everyone has their own way of living and that you can’t force people to live the way you want. We should just be more tolerant instead.
But my wife still thinks everyone should behave like her: remind our children not to make noise, treat others with respect, etc.
How can I change my wife’s thoughts?
