Last week, a report revealed that Motorola was going to announce a new ‘Moto G’ smartwatch powered by Google’s Wear operating system with a few renderings of the smartwatch with transparent support. A Reddit thread points out that the text written on the back of the watch body reads “Snapdragon Wear 4100” to indicate that the watch will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest portable chipset.

Despite this new discovery, we’re still not quite sure when Moto will launch this new smartwatch. The new Moto watch is expected to succeed the Moto 360 launched in 2019 (the one that was not made by Motorola, but by its partner eBuyNow).
The Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform is more power efficient and much more lively than the Snapdragon 3100 Wear platform. We have reviewed the TicWatch Pro 3 powered by the same chipset and can attest that battery life and performance have improved significantly with this new platform.
We’re excited to see Moto’s new offering in the Wear OS space. The operating system is set to undergo a major overhaul, the update of which is expected to be released this year.
