HÀ NỘI – Midfielder To Van Wu said he aims to be the first team to play against Australia in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
Along with the return of midfielder Oh Hong Dung, Wu is one of the options for a personnel change in the Vietnamese team after the 2020 AFF Cup. He is expected to bring freshness to the team.
Waugh said before training on Sunday: “Everyone was very tired when they arrived in Australia due to the long journey. However, the health of the players is currently better. Personally, I feel good too. I have integrated well and adapted to the team compared to my two previous challenges.
“Changes in the way we play have also been discussed with the players at every practice and event. The training atmosphere in the team is very good, everyone is focused on the games.”
This is the third time Wow has been called up to the Vietnamese team by coach Park Han So. In the previous two calls, he did not participate in either game.
“My goal was to win a seat to travel to Australia and I did,” Waugh said.
“Now I will work hard on a new goal to try and get a chance to play against Australia. I hope we can surprise this opponent.”
Wu was born in 1993 in the central province of Thanh Hoa. He recently played for the Đồng Nai and Bình Dương teams. The path to becoming a professional player was much more difficult than many players of his age. He never played in the Vietnam national team shirt. It is possible that Vũ will have a chance in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
Vietnam will play Australia in Melbourne on 27 January before facing China at Mỹ Đình Stadium on 1 February. VNS
