Infinix released the global version of its Smart 5 smartphone in August, but the Shenzhen-based manufacturer announced a new version for the Indian market. The Indian Infinix Smart 5 has a larger 6.82-inch IPS LCD display, a more robust 6000mAh battery and runs on MediaTek’s Helio G25 chipset.

The screen features HD + resolution and sports a teardrop-shaped notch for its 8MP selfie camera. The rear houses a large camera island although you only get a 13MP primary shooter and a secondary low-light sensor. The remaining cutouts are for the LED flash and AI logo. There is a fingerprint scanner next to the camera island and the back features a textured design and reflective pattern.
RAM comes in at 2-3GB while on-board storage reaches 32GB, although you can expand further through the microSD slot. The Smart 5 starts up XOS 7 based on Android 10 (Go Edition) and charges via microUSB.
The Infinix Smart 5 is available in green, black, blue and purple. Retail is set at INR 8,999 ($ 123), although initial sales are discounted 20% corresponding to a starting price of INR 7,199 ($ 98). The first sales are expected to begin on February 18.
